Addison Township Mental Health Board

Overview

Addison Township understands that awareness of the existence and purpose of the Mental Health Board is important to gain support for the board’s work and the work of our funded partners. In the years to come, the Board will develop and cultivate relationships with community leaders and key stakeholders to highlight the important work being done throughout the township to address mental health, addiction, and the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Goal 1: Increase Public Awareness and Education

  • Provide information on mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and substance use to community stakeholders.
  • Educate the public as to the purpose of the Mental Health Board and the services that are available to them in the community.
  • Increase Mental Health Board social media presence and seek alternative methods of public outreach (i.e. mental health forums, presentations to community groups, editorial column, press releases, website)
  • Inclusion of Mental Health Board funding partners’ updates shared on the social media platform and the Addison Township website to provide information and awareness to the community.

 

Goal 2: Identify Community Needs and Service Priorities

  • Continue to gather and analyze community needs data using existing resources.
  • Utilize needs assessment results to identify system gaps and service priorities.
  • Identify gaps and create new processes as needed.

 

Goal 3: Deploy Resources to Serve Township Residents

  • Refine grant application policies and procedures.
  • Award funds to organizations to address unmet needs of Addison Township residents in the area of mental health, addiction, and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Create partnerships between board members and funding partners to increase interaction with the
  • Board which will include site visits and tours by board members.
  • Maintain financial accountability by achieving budget goals each fiscal year.

Goal 4: Build internal capacity of 708 Board to best serve Addison Township

  • Continue to gather information about the operations, policies, and practices of existing 708 Boards in Illinois.
  • Adopt the use of best practices and other effective operational strategies from successful 708 boards in the area.
  • Provide support to other mental health boards by sharing ideas and best practices.
  • Bring funding partners together for an annual Meet and Greet in order to allow for partner introductions and collaboration between partners.
  • Provide opportunities for Funding Partner presentations to the Board and community to share their impact and work progress within Addison Township on a yearly basis.
  • Comply with annual reporting requirements of the Mental Health Act and stay abreast of any changes to the Mental Health Act.

 

Goal 5: Seek alternative methods of funding

  • Determine whether there are alternative sources of funding available for the provision of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use services.
  • Use opportunities to engage with county, state, and federal agencies to increase access and coordination with regards to Addison Township residents’ needs.
