The Addison Township Mental Health Board has adopted its three-year strategic plan, which covers 2025-2027.
On November 20, during a meeting, Board President Donald Puchalski and the board unanimously approved a plan to develop and nurture relationships with community leaders and key stakeholders. This plan emphasizes the vital work being carried out throughout the township to address issues related to mental health, addiction, and the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The plan involves five goals to be achieved over the next 3 years:
Goal 1: Increase Public Awareness and Education
Goal 2: Identify Community Needs and Service Priorities
Goal 3: Deploy Resources to Serve Township Residents
Goal 4: Build the Internal Capacity of the 708 Board to Best Serve Addison Township
Goal 5: Seek Alternative Methods of Funding
In addition, the board acknowledged a list of achievements from the Year One Plan, including:
Applied for a transformation grant funded by the DuPage Foundation and DuPage County, with the potential to partner with the Alive Center to offer after-school and summer programs for teen residents of Addison Township.
About the Addison Township Mental Health Board:
In 2022, Addison Township voters approved a referendum to create the Addison Township Mental
Health Board, which funds mental health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and substance use
services for residents.
In February 2023, a board of seven members, including mental health experts and community
representatives, were appointed. These non-paid volunteers, with various government and mental health backgrounds, work together to raise mental health awareness, eliminate stigma, and ensure accessible, high-quality care for all residents.
